Join Our Site Stewards Volunteer Watering Program!
Help newly planted native trees and shrubs thrive this summer by becoming a Site Steward!
RiversEdge West's Site Stewards Watering Program is designed to support the long-term survival of newly planted native species, especially during hot, dry summer conditions. A little extra water during their first growing season can make all the difference.
Our first watering site is Watson Island, where volunteers planted more than 200 native trees and shrubs earlier this spring. As a Site Steward, you'll choose a day and time that works for your schedule, water the designated plants, and log your visit so other volunteers know the site has been cared for.

What to Expect
- Watering typically takes about 1–2 hours, depending on the number of volunteers and site conditions.
- Wear comfortable clothing, sturdy shoes, and bring plenty of drinking water. A hat and sunscreen are also recommended.
- Bring your own bucket if you have one, or borrow one from RiversEdge West. Buckets are available at the Confluence Center.
- We'll have a stack of buckets and a sign-out sheet outside the RiversEdge West office door, making it easy to grab one whenever it's convenient.

- The first tab of the spreadsheet contains program instructions.
- The second tab includes the Watson Island watering schedule and sign-up sheet.
- After watering, please log your visit in the spreadsheet so everyone can see when the site was last watered.
- Additional watering sites will be added throughout the season as more restoration projects need care.
