Join RiversEdge West and Volunteers for Outdoor Colorado for a volunteer cottonwood caging event on the Dolores River from October 4-5, 2025!
This work includes transporting materials such as T-posts, fencing, and tools to assigned locations, installing up to four posts around each tree, and wrapping them with protective fencing. These measures help protect both young and mature cottonwoods from heightened beaver activity, especially after recent floods have given beavers access to trees that were previously safe.
Volunteers will be provided with free campsites on Friday and Saturday evening, plus breakfast and lunch on Saturday and Sunday, and with dinner on Saturday. Volunteers should bring their own dinner for Friday night and enough snacks for the weekend.
