Volunteer Event at Island Acres with Colorado Parks and Wildlife

Join RiversEdge West for a volunteer event at Island Acres with Colorado Parks and Wildlife on April 3, 2025 from 9 am - 11 am.

RiversEdge West has been working with CPW since 2013 to restore wetland, riparian, and upland habitat. We will be working with CPW to improve habitat that is in need of ongoing maintenance at the James M. Robb Colorado River State Park - Island Acres section in Palisade, CO. We will be transplanting cottonwood and willow cuttings and pulling puncture vine to improve recreation access

Volunteer Event at Wildlife Area with Bureau of Reclamation

Join RiversEdge West for a volunteer event with the Bureau of Reclamation on March 5, 2025 from 10 am - 12 pm.

At this event we will harvest willow and cottonwood poles for transplant at future events. We will also install protective caging around cottonwood trees to protect them from beavers, deer, and other critters. Light snacks and coffee will be provided.

21st Annual Grand Valley River Cleanup

By working together, we strive to keep our rivers clean, healthy, and thriving for future generations.

Volunteer Event along the Dolores River

Join RiversEdge West, Volunteers for Outdoor Colorado, and Southwest Conservation Corps for a volunteer cottonwood caging event along the Dolores River on August 3 and 4!

The focus for this event will be installing cages around cottonwood trees along the Dolores River in Uravan, CO. Volunteers will transport materials including t-posts and fencing/caging to project sites and secure them around trees.

Volunteer Event at Dos Rios Island

Join RiversEdge West for a volunteer event at the Dos Rios Island on August 15, 2024 from 8 am - 10 am.

At this event we will primarily be installing caging around native plants to protect them from beavers and other wildlife. Other tasks may include invasive plant removal, trash cleanup, and installing fencing. Please note that the exact meeting location, timing, and tasks may change depending on river levels and temperature to ensure safety.

Habitat Restoration and Replacement Workshop

Free Habitat Restoration Workshop on April 25 from 3-5 PM at the Western Colorado Research Center!

Are you looking to improve wildlife habitat on your land? Join the Delta Conservation District, the Colorado Department of Agriculture (CDA) and RiversEdge West (REW) at the Western Colorado Research Center on April 25th for a free workshop! CDA's Paul Kehmeier will share about the process of replacing wildlife habitat after ditches are piped or lined.

Volunteer Event at Wildlife Area with Bureau of Reclamation

Join RiversEdge West for a volunteer event with the Bureau of Reclamation on May 29, 2024 from 8 am - 10 am.

At this event we will adjust cages for native plants and clear out weeds to give native plants more room to grow. We'll also plant native species! Light snacks and coffee will be provided. Work will all be outside, so please bring water, proper work attire (we recommend pants, close-toed shoes, and long sleeves), and sun protection. Specialized tools will be provided, but you may also bring your own.
